SHENZHEN, May 11, 2026 — Shenzhen HIKING PV Technology Co., Ltd. announced that its self-developed tandem solar cell has passed a simulated space thermal shock test. The test completed 110 continuous thermal cycles across a temperature range from -100°C to +100°C. Results showed that the cell structure remained intact, key electrical performance stayed stable, and photovoltaic conversion efficiency degradation was controlled below 0.1%.

The test was designed to simulate the severe and rapid temperature fluctuations experienced in space environments. It evaluated the structural stability, encapsulation reliability, and electrical performance retention of HIKING PV’s tandem cell under extreme thermal shock conditions. During the test, the cell underwent repeated rapid transitions between low and high temperatures and remained in good condition after continuous cycling, with no obvious structural damage or encapsulation delamination observed.
The results indicate that HIKING PV’s tandem cell can maintain strong reliability and environmental adaptability under extreme thermal shock conditions. After 110 cycles, the photovoltaic conversion efficiency degradation rate remained below 0.1%, providing an important reliability reference for the use of tandem cells in space PV, satellite solar wings, and other demanding energy systems.
Space environments involve severe temperature swings that can accelerate solar cell failure. Through this test, HIKING PV’s tandem cell further demonstrated its potential to withstand extreme space conditions and support aerospace equipment such as satellite solar wings with stable power generation. The result marks an early step toward aerospace-grade reliability and lays a foundation for future market access. HIKING PV will continue to focus on the commercialization of space PV and promote the scaled application of tandem solar technology in aerospace energy systems.
